Nagasaki, a city on the northwest coast of Kyushu Island, is known for its rich history, cultural heritage, and tragic past. Historically, Nagasaki was a crucial port for foreign trade and cultural exchange between Japan and the outside world, notably during the period of national isolation in the Edo era. This led to a unique blend of Western and Japanese influences that can still be seen in the city today. However, Nagasaki is perhaps most well-known for the atomic bombing on August 9, 1945, during World War II, which left an indelible mark on the city's identity.
Nagasaki Full Day Tour
Tour Itinerary: 7.5 hours
1) Meet and Greet
Meet at terminal building exit doors (approx 8:30 am).
2) Nagasaki Peace Park
Take a short drive to the Nagasaki Peace Park and stroll around the various statues, monuments, and the epicenter of the explosion above Nagasaki City on August 9th, 1945. Indicate if your party wishes to visit the Atomic Bomb Museum as well; if so, these two locations will be visited at the end of our tour.
3) Sohonzan Shrine
Take a scenic drive (approx. 45 minutes) to Sohonzan Shrine for a special Shinto experience.
4) Saikai Bridge and Hario Towers
A quick drive to Saikai Bridge and Hario Towers to discover the place where the orders were sent to attack Pearl Harbor.
5) Lunch
Have lunch from a local supermarket or convenience store (lots of food choices including sushi and many traditional/popular Japanese and Western options) approx. 12 to 1 pm.
6) Sake Brewery
Visit a local Sake (Japanese Rice Wine) Brewery.
7) WW2 Bomb Shelter and Submarine Training Facility
Check out a WW2 Bomb Shelter preserved by the local community and an abandoned Submarine and Torpedo Training Facility.
8) Hasami Town
Visit Hasami Town, famous as the birthplace of Pottery in Japan.
9) Mount Inasayama
Drive up to Mount Inasayama for a 360-degree panoramic view of Nagasaki.
